Who Was I
Jeremy Parsons
One of my favorite things to do when I release a new song or album is to wait for some of the reviews to roll in. When I released my third full-length album, Things To Come, I noticed that a few people listened to the record but didn't quite get it, which is fine. You're not always going to connect, and I assume they listen to a lot of music every day. One review that stood out to me was from someone who felt the album was a step back from my previous work and didn't provide much insight into my life. I thought it was funny, so I sat down and wrote "Who Was I." It was kind of like this weird way of saying, "Take this, here's some particular tidbits for you!" It turned into a song about my journey, admitting to myself how little I knew and how little we know as we progress and gather knowledge along the way. We're always learning, and should always be open to doing so. Here's a reflection on who I was and where I've been. Iām grateful for every step.
